This WebQuest is designed to give elementary students an opportunity to explore a different state. Our goal is for the students to compare and contrast their own state to another state.
Introduction
Hello Explorers!
Today we will assigning a state to each student to learn more about. This may be the state your Flat Traveler visited or it may be a different state that you would like to learn more about. Each person will be working individually on this project, so our class hears about many different states. Your teacher will guide you in choosing a state for this webquest.

Research
Find your state below that was assigned to you. There are 5 websites for each state. Use these websites to complete the rough draft of your state brochure. Click here if you need a copy. You will be completing a final draft with your teacher in the classroom after your research is complete. As you are navigating through the websites, make sure to look for this information to complete your state brochure:
- Map of the state
- What borders the state?
- State symbols
- Landforms in the state
- Products grown in the state
- Famous people from the state
- Attractions, or things you can do while visiting the state

Demonstrate Your Learning
You have learned a lot about your state. You will now be drafting the final copy of your brochure. Use your rough draft to help you. Look at the rubric for the brochure. Make sure your work demonstrates a 3 in all areas. Remember you will be sharing the brochure with your peers, so make sure you are proud of your work!
Sharing/Evaluating
Teachers will decide how to share these projects in their classrooms. Evaluate student work using the rubric.
